Lecce is a cited located in Southern Italy, in the Puglia Region in a geographical area called Salento. The city has very ancient origins and was first inhabited by the Greeks and then by the Romans, of whom important monuments are preserved. The city is particularly known for the style of the buildings built in the 15th and 16th centuries, a style called "Barocco Leccese", which prevailed using the typical characteristics of the local stone. Public buildings, private palaces, churches and convents are all made with a very soft stone which allows for the creation of unique decorations.
