Daily Locales

This series is about a normal peasant living on the border between Zhejiang Province and the ‘magic city’ Shanghai. One step further is the place where skyscrapers grow.

The photographer delved into the daily locales of this old man and invited him to take several portraits. The daily farming situations, the old tradition to kill a chicken for festivals and the Buddhism belief… All these elements could possibly form a montage to indicate contradictions in his culture. We can see the border landscape, lifestyle, social status and religious belief in this specific geopolitical region.
