I have been watching how we have been living after the 2011 Tsunami and nuclear explosion through the small coastal area of Fukushima. The Nomaoi rituals have been carried out in any disastrous era there. People have been "praying for the peace of the land" no matter what the state has been for 1000 years. The 400 km-long concrete seawall that has being built along the coast seemed to symbolize our solution to “something different from ourselves”. These two aspects seem contradictory, but I seek to understand human prayers, identities, and their/our continuous relationship with the land.
