Detritus: at the Edge

Los Angeles exists at the very edge of our continent,at the cutting edge of our society, and is a city of vast multi-cultural diversity. For nine years,I have walked the same 3 mile stretch of beach there, finding cast-off fragments rich in human implications, burnished from the sea.I am a collector, a seeker, and on this stretch of beach,a cultural anthropologist.
There is a societal narrative to the object-they are a way of examining the city's unique cultures through it's detritus, an unheard story in every fragment collected, altered by living energy,at the edge of decay.
