The 17th edition of Bucharest Pride Parade gathered more than 15.000 people marching for equal rights, gender and sexual minorities as the country’s lower chamber of the parliament is set to vote on a law later this year that bans discussion of homosexuality and gender identity in public spaces. The authorities have been present in large numbers due to past incidents regarding aggressive conservative and extremist groups. The British Ambassador marched together with the people. Same sex relationships have been accepted in 2001 but Romania remains conservative towards LGBTQIA+ rights.
