The Peak Before the Fall

“The Peak Before the Fall” portrays botanical figures and gestures while experimenting with solarization and inversion. Through solarization, the botanical life form is transformed into an ethereal silvery glow with a haloed contour, transporting us away from the everyday quotidian. Inverted images upend our normal sense of light and dark while introducing a dream-like translucence. These works represent a full life cycle of plants from bud to bloom to withering and connect the viewer to the natural world through an affective response to its beauty, changeability and fragility.
