Coping with Alzheimer's

Growing old in America has become an increasingly expensive privilege requiring support and services, whether provided at home or in a facility. Americans are living longer. The financial strain has become unsustainable and families are facing a financial crisis as never before. It is the ignored epidemic. Medicare only handles post-acute care, generally after a hospital stay. It does not handle routine living assistance or custodial care which has now fallen on families, many caring for a loved one with dementia or Alzheimer's, adding an overwhelming emotional strain as well.

Steven Weisz is a photographer and arts advocate whose work explores human expression, culture, and connection. Originally documenting Philadelphia’s dance community as founder of PhiladelphiaDANCE.org and The Dance Journal, his photography evolved into internationally exhibited visual storytelling, with shows across Europe, Asia, and the U.S. His images focus on identity, movement, and the shared moments that connect people across cultures.
