The Lord is My Light

I grew up in Eastern Europe surrounded by the icons of Eastern Orthodoxy and a religious tradition that felt both long ago and far away.

As a teenager I was inspired by religious art that, by contrast, felt much more alive. Later still I would discover the watercolors of James Tissot. This series was inspired by each of those experiences and desire to create work that held more emotion. The work is based upon a pre-Raphaelite notion of intimate simplicity as Biblical scenes are rendered without faces, just the feelings that attended these moments of individual ministry and transformation.

EVA KOLEVA TIMOTHY grew up under the shadow of Communism in Eastern Europe. Yet under the tutelage of her artist father she learned to
cherish the pursuit of personal passion and the freedom to view the world for its possibilities, whatever the circumstance.

As a photographer Eva is also widely known for her enthusiasm about art's inherent power to focus, refine, and inspire. Eva's work has been collected and published and exhibited
internationally and has been exhibited at various galleries, art centers & institutions including the Smithsonian, the MFAH and Oxford University.
