Land Subsidence

In the western coastal areas of Taiwan, the stratum subsidence is obvious in many areas due to a large amount of over-extraction of groundwater.

Affected by the overexploitation of groundwater, most of the groundwater level in the coastal bay area of ??southwestern Taiwan has dropped below sea level, and there is a considerable degree of suspicion of seawater intrusion. If groundwater overexploitation is not improved, the ground may continue to sink. The temples, cemeteries and roads in the photo have been surrounded by water.
