Sleeping With Mosquitoes

Malaria remains one of the leading causes of death in countries like Uganda. In the remote village of Kyeihara, new mosquito nets have been distributed by the government in recent years. These nets serve as the most affordable and efficient way to deal with mosquito-related diseases. Combined with the care of the local clinic workers, the area has not seen a Malaria death in a very long time, though new cases still appear daily.

This is a series of portraits of locals - some of whom have had Malaria - armed with their nets in their bedrooms, where their fight against Malaria takes place.
