Oceans, water, vitality and natural resources. These are some of the themes we are listening to today. The oceans represent 50% of the Earth's O2 production. They are terribly affected either by pollution, or by rampant fishing, or by the quality and pollution of the water, the plastic that exists there. Another more global aspect of our planet is that we annually consume the Earth's resources in advance. For example in 2020 in August we had exhausted the natural resources that the Earth gives us. Year after year, that date is brought forward. It is urgent to act and prevent climate change.
My name is Antonio Bernardino Martins Coelho, I am from a small village in the north of Portugal, where I live. I am 42 years old, married and father of two girls. I work as an electrical engineer. A taste for painting was evident in me early on, but it was only in 2010 after a trip to Cuba that I became interested in photography, having captured a lot of images.
However, having a small digital camera, I started to acquire analog equipment and develop the photography learning activity in a self-taught way, using very old and medium format machines. My favorite camera is the Zeiss Ikon Nettar.
Awards It was only in 2015 that I bought my first DSLR and since then I have developed skills in digital photography and digital image processing. I have particularly interest in still life, landscape, conceptual and architecture.
In 2017 I get my first victory in international competitions, in still life, at the Xposure festival, in Sharjah in the United Arab Emirates.
Since then I have participated in many national and international competitions, having conquered podium places in competitions with high recognition. In 2018 I achieved the title of Portugal National Award at the Sony Awards, and commended at the same contest.
The same feat is achieved in 2020, with the same title, Portugal National Award at the Sony Awards and shortlisted in still life.
And 2021, a series of my photographs that address the problem of plastic on the environment and food, is an integral part of the exhibition at the Xposure festival, in Sharjah in the United Arab Emirates. Still in 2021, I achieved the gold title in the WPE awards, Budapest International Photo Awards and Tokyo International Foto Awards competitions.
Publication of my photographs in Portuguese and international magazines such as Practical Photographer Magazine and Digital Photographer Magazine.
