KOCHINOHOMA - Red Soil

Red Soil is a book that communicates the issue of illegal killing of migratory birds in Cyprus by engaging in a post-mortem inquiry into the story of their unfortunate ending. In it confiscated trapping paraphernalia of high DYI sophistication shot in a clinical way, are juxtaposed with a narrative inspired by birdwatching guides evoking the fervour that birds cause in their passage. The book was designed to be used as an artefact within an interactive exhibition where the viewer is invited to dig it out of red soil, the main trapping area’s trademark, and engage actively with the issue.
