Covid Chronicles

This series captures a sliver of the work that I’ve been a part of, as a healthcare professional in Singapore, since the Covid pandemic arrived at our shores last year. I led a team to conduct swab operations, a key part of the national response to Covid-19. Teams worked long hours, swabbing in hot humid environments and issuing quarantine orders across Singapore. Others packed quarantine kits round the clock, painstakingly checking each thermometer before inserting it into the kit; yet others attended endless meetings to make sure everything ran smoothly.

Shyamala is a doctor specialising in Public Health at the Health Promotion Board in Singapore. Photography has been a passion since she received her first camera - a gift from an uncle - when she was 14. She enjoys all genres of photography, but particularly enjoys telling stories using images - and continually learning new techniques to support this. Photography and the day job keep her happy in equal measure.
