This Blackwood tree stood on a hill above my camp at the edge of the Tarkine wilderness forest in Tasmania, Australia. It stood alone and separate from the forest, no doubt a survivor from land clearing many years before. After waiting 2 days for the right weather conditions I finally managed to photograph it with the Milky way before the clouds rolled. Still standing tall, despite having lost leaves in parts and with some branches appearing dead, it had a presence that represented survival and hope despite what the future might throw at it.
I have worked in the arts related industries as a Printmaker, Animator, SFX and Graphic Designer for Film & TV, and Web Designer. I love being in the landscape and photographing it, especially so that I can share with others the beauty of our natural world, and to also bring attention to the importance of caring for our natural environment. My main focus is landscape photography and nightscape photography.
