Isolation Flora

My photographic process has never involved still life, but during the pandemic everything changed. While in isolation during the Covid-19 lockdown, we were nevertheless allowed solo nature walks for exercise, so I gathered dried plants like sticks and seeds to bring home to photograph. In two months I went through a series of progressions, but finally ended up placing these dried plants inside a glass vase with a black background to symbolize my own isolation.

I received my BFA in Photography in 1976 and continued to work as a visual artist in a variety of capacities, from studio/location photography to filmmaking for the US Navy. During the most recent phase of my life I've been pursuing fine art photography and iphoneography. My work has been exhibited locally, nationally, and internationally and is included in collections at the Asia Society Museum and MIT's Islamic architecture library.
