The path of the modern man is lit by the glow of his smartphone screen. The manner in which today’s human exists in the world is increasingly truncated, and flattened out despite its illusion of depth. This series represents an investigation into the sociological, physiological, and consciousness-adaptive experience of how we live now. During my performance isolation/observation booth portraiture process, each participant spends about 30 minutes in a private session via text with the artist. Conversations captures in multiple layers, images, videos and displayed on screens for viewers.
Jana Cruder is commercial artist turned fine artist passionate about the environment, climate change and humanity. Her works aim to cast an unforgiving lens on our most challenging contemporary issues. She is inspiring social change & exploring our roles and relationships to cultural norms, conditioned ideals, each other our natural world and technology though art using the mediums of sculpture, performance, film and photography.
