Faces of the West

The cowboy remains one of the most iconic symbols of the American west, a combination of ruggedness, strength and independence. These portraits were taken of cowboys — bronco and bull riders — minutes after they left a rodeo arena in Pagosa Springs, Colorado during the annual Red Ryder Roundup on July 4, 2019.
