Gasparilla Ruins 01

  • Photographer
    Jason Robert Jones, United States

Situated just offshore of Gasparilla Island, a small barrier island located along the coastline of Southern Florida in the United States. Sits a remnant of the past that resembles the classical antiquities of the old world. The scarred remains of a booming industry long gone, sit looming on the horizon like an aquatic Stonehenge. Large concrete pylons that once formed a train trestle, build to support the phosphate industry, protrude from the Gulf of Mexico. back lit by the western sun now sunk below the horizon, the Gasparilla Ruins play out their remaining days as a perch for gulls.
