but i love this place

On July 23rd, 2018, a wildfire in the seaside town of Mati, Greece, killed over 100 women, children and men in just 90 minutes.
People were completely unprepared and many rushed towards the water to save themselves only to find that the fire followed them right up to the beach. This series not only looks at the aftermath directly, but includes my interpretations of the trauma that the wildfire has caused.
I created pieces of work showing aerial views of Mati, which I have transformed into something else and photographed: a burning boat, 100 needles pinned to a map representing the lives lost
