Tole and Bahola are classmates in eastern Kenya, both born with albinism. They keep their eyes shut because of photophobia, an eye-decease which literally means fear of light.
Albinism is a rare condition which results in the absence of pigment in hair, eyes and skin. People with albinism have a very sensitive skin, they must use sun lotion every day and wear good clothing and hats to protect themselves from the sun. They often suffer from vision problems and should be wearing low vision- or special light sensitivity glasses but most of the children can’t effort them.
