The Artist And Her Muse
This series focuses on Suzanne Valadon (1865-1938), a French
pioneer. As the poor and uneducated, illegitimate daughter of a
laundress, she became a self-trained painter. In 1894 Valadon became the first woman ever admitted to the Societe Nationale des Beaux-Arts, making her the only woman to have her work exhibited in the Paris Salon of 1894. In the image Muse1 she holds the catalogue. The following images portray Suzanne with those who inspired her. While she herself was one of the all time great muses of Paris painters, she too had her own muses. From humble beginnings Valadon rose to become a famous painter in her own right.

Leslie received the "Prix de la Photographie, Paris" (Px3) 2016 Best New Talent Award and first place from the 2015 (IPA) International Photography Awards in the category of Fine Arts, Self Publish Book. In 2014 she was endowed with the Julia Margaret Cameron Award, was a finalist for the 2014 Clarence John Laughlin Award, and received gold, silver, and bronze medals in the 2014 "Prix de la Photographie, Paris" (Px3). Her work has been published in print magazines and in various online photography magazines. She has exhibited nationally and internationally, in the US, Germany, Mexico, Spain, Thailand, Georgia, England and France.
