SILVER HANDS

"SILVER HANDS"

One never stops in the aluminum pot factories in Dhaka, Bangladesh. In less than 40 seconds a flat sheet of aluminum becomes a saucepan. It's a hard and dangerous work as the
workers manipulate heavy machinery and chemicals such as sulfuric acid. Men work 10 to 12 hours a day for 3$. The children work for 1$ a day. 30% workers are children. Face,
torso and arms covered in aluminum dust they are unaware of the consequences on their health.
The current economic situation in Bangladesh can not solve the problem of child labor. Children are driven into work by necessity and have no other choice to support their daily
needs.
Many working children do not have access to education and become trapped in low-skilled, low-pay work that further binds them into the cycle of poverty.

French-American, Valerie Leonard travels the world following her theme that she named “Labours of Hercules" where she attempts to show with utmost respect the dignity of women and men living and working in particularly hostile environments.

She takes the time to live with the people and be fully accepted before starting her work.
There is no staging, with patience and respect, she waits for the right moment, the right light to tell the truth, but in terms of beauty.
Far from seeking aesthetic or false compassion she intends to change the way we see a forgotten humanity.
