These photographs allude to the intensity of loss, reflecting the
loneliness of grief over somebody else’s external landscape. Pain
calls for modesty, and by liberating myself from having a body I
ceased to have memories. The narrative takes place outside,
bewildered and fragmented, becoming possible only through the
mirror. Naming the perpetual nuisance caused by absence was just
the beginning of the journey. You never lose a child completely.
She always remains as somebody that we are able to evoke in
order to exist again. But grieving is like nakedness, not to be
shown to others. Most people avoid the subject. Not even a word.
Everybody remembered very well, silently, what was best not to
remember. The derangement is clandestine and I became a
damaged woman, sewn in my silence. The scar so distant from a
wound so close accompanies me always, mute, among ashes and
dust.
