A single shot from series entitled 'The Loneliness Project'.
Inspiration for this character came from Blanche DuBois of the play
'A Streetcar Named Desire'. Blanche deals with her loneliness
through substance abuse, self indulgence and is forever teetering
on the edge of insanity.
I aimed to explore issues of self-image and female identity.
There's a great deal of choreography and construction to the
image in terms of overall composition, lighting, arrangement of
subject, wardrobe, and make-up. By exerting such a level of
control over the portrait I am able to show the viewer exactly how
femininity is described to us through popular culture.
