i have always been drawn to abandoned places. I love the mix of man-made order and the
entropy introduced by nature. I was on my way to check out a possible location for a shoot
when I stumbled on this long abandoned gas station. The lighting was fairly good for such
a place. This image is comprised of two photographs superimposed on each other.
Brown is known for his exploration of the unconscious through improvisation and the cultivation of surprise, serendipity and synchronicity via alchemy. His photography career dates back to 1978 and he has been active in improvised experimental music and video since 1974. His first photography sale was to the collection of the Standard Oil Company of Indiana and his video You Define Single File was nominated for the Golden Gate Award at the 47th San Francisco International Film Festival. He was born in Dubuque, Iowa, received a BA in film from Columbia College and now resides in North Carolina.
