The facial tattoo used to be a common practice among Chin
women in Myanmar. They do it at a tender age. Each area of Chin
state has a different tattoo pattern. However, facial tattoo practice
is no longer performed nowadays. This culture will soon be gone.
There are less than 20 women that have facial tattoo in Chin
village, they are the last generation that have direct experience in
this ancient custom.
