This series of work exposes an inner self-portrait, rather than an
external self-portrait; a representation of self on an emotional
level as opposed to a pictorial level. Our identities are formed
through our parent's presence or absence, their actions or lack of
actions, they are a significant part of who we become. The physical
tear and re-joining of the work is symbolic of the imperfection of
these relationships.
