A series of explosions that killed hundreds people and injured
hundreds of others occurred at a container storage station at
thePort of Tianjin. Dozens of firefighters were still missing.
According to the reports, China has a three-tier firefighting
system. Top-tier firefighters of the state public security
ministry, who usually serve for just two years, enjoy the same
status as police officers.
However, most of the second and third tiers are not “in the
system,” and often are not full employees, just contract workers.
Firefighters of the Tianjin Port Group are mainly from the third
tiers.
Family members of the missing firefighters are still waiting for
the reports.
