Sail: Majesty At Sea

The name “Majesty of the Sea” is exactly what this series reflects. The majesty of these sailboats, a focus on the form and shape, the timeless nature of the art of, and sport of sailing.
The vessels that I chose to photograph reflect rich histories. Built as early as 1905, they have been used in Olympics, and the esteemed and historical America’s cup.

For me, water, the ocean and my childhood are enmeshed in a pool of emotions and intimate experiences of youth and inexperience. Sailing was the catalyst for my wanderlust, the inspiration for my photographic and artistic journey, and a place to find myself. This book is very much a self reflection and a reminder of those magical moments of growing up.
There are so many contrasts involved with sailing, there is a calmness, but also a danger, adrenaline fueled yet still graceful, and my images reflect those qualities.
