Struggle to death

In the Northern Serengeti a group of zebras were drinking at a
small river. Nervously they startled every once in a while and left
the water site for more security. Coming back shyly to the water
there remained a fierce ambiance. A herd of wildebeest was
standing on the other river bank. One single wildebeest
approached the water unaware of the lion’s presence. The lioness
seemed to appear from nowhere and got the wildebeest right at its
gorge. It was fighting and struggling for several minutes before
the lioness got enough grip with her paws on the wildebeest’s
shoulders to pull it down. Eventually the wildebeest was suffocated
by the lioness’ bite and lay motionless in the ground, the lioness
breathing heavily waiting for her offspring - three lion cubs were
emerging from the bushes and started playing and fighting next to
the carcass before starting to feed on it.

moyophotography - "moyo" is the swahili word for heart. Swahili is spoken in various countries in East Africa like Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda. Ramona Reichert and Ivo Schemionek are moyophotography. Since their trip to Namibia in 2010, Africa has conquered their hearts. Another trip to Botswana followed and the hunger for the untouched wilderness and the adventures grew even bigger. In 2013 they travelled to East Africa to see the Great Migration of wildebeest and zebras. In the trans-bordering ecosystem of Massai Mara and Serengeti they fell in love with the vast plains and the fascinating wildlife of Kenya and Tanzania.
