Hua-Kuang community known as the last illegal construction
community in Taipei, the residents reached the agreement with the
government after six years negotiation (since 2007) of the relocation.
In between 3 small fires (2008, 2011, and 2013) had occurred;
burning house was a common episode happened in many city rebuild
projects in Taiwan. Tearing down the Hua-Kuang community grew up
to be a symbol of frustration. I was inspired to look through the social
concern deeper that the residents agreed to relocate were unhappy
due to long time waiting, and disagreed to relocate were unhappy too
due to reluctant to move out. It is helpless is the concept of the image
series, combined with the ruthless fire and community demolition to
reflect the hopeless mind of the residents. In this series, residents held
something beloved but in fire and the eyes looked through the lens to
accuse or cry out the helpless situation.
