“…this is not a building, i.e. something holding one or more
functions that can be contained in an architectural unit, but an
urban system: a neighbourhood, a crossroads, a beehive, a
medieval portico that brings together all the sounds and
movements of the town’s winding streets, where people live
work, trade and spend their leisure time. It does not have a
front in the traditional architectural sense, but rather a series of
perspectives (highlighting the fact that this is where several
places meet) and it is organised to offer views over the town and
