Paris is one of those cities that remains in the heart. La Ville
Lumiere, charming, beautiful and eye-catching but wrapped in a
frenzy and of a chaotic tourism that only a visit to the Mona Lisa in
the Louvre can give you the idea. Paris is also the capital of the
contradiction due to its complex nature, the black / white and color,
of light and dark, the luxurious trendy cafes and small bistros,
village and metropolis at the same time. With my pictures I wanted
to tell the story of this Grande Dame, who undresses her sequins
and remain naked in front of the mirror.
Simona Poncia approches photography after seeing an exhibition in Florence, entitled “Robert Mapplethorpe: perfection in form”. In the exhibition the american artist's photographs were placed side by side in comparison with Michelangelo's “David” and “The four prisons”. This event fed her passion for this art, motivating so her black and white style. Her photographs are timeless.
She is able to highlight the essential and purity of everything, giving sacredness to the portrayed image by means of rarefied atmospheres.
Awards Simona Poncia has exhibited in authoritative contexts such as the Arsenale of Venice as a finalist for the "Arte e Laguna" award, at the MACRO in Rome for the "Adrenalina" award and at the Taccani power plant in Trezzo sull’Adda, on the occasion of Expo 2015.
In 2018 some photos of her were included in the “Murmures” exhibition, at the Museum of the Aurelian Walls in Rome.
From 7 to 12 December 2019, one of her personal exhibitions at Palazzo Velli in Rome as part of the MarteLive cultural review.
The “Nebbie” project was published in Il Fotografo magazine.
She is present as a photographer with her portfolio on "PhotoVogue" on-line channel of "Vogue Italia". In 2014 she was awarded the “Merit of Excellence” award at the Black and White Spider Awards competition and “Honorable Mention” at the International Photographer of the Year, Neutral Density Photography Awards 2019 and Monochrome Awards competitions.
From 30 November 2019 to 15 January 202, participation in the exhibition entitled "Italian Landscape - Infinity between enchantment and disfigurement", curated by Vittorio Sgarbi, Villa Colloredo Mels in Recanati.
From 3 to 16 March 2020, exhibition at the Zeffirelli Onlus Foundation in Florence as part of the "Moovart Co-Expo Florence 2020" even
