Russian Ghosts

The recent Ukrainian crisis and the subsequent events in Crimea evoked ancient western ghosts, and the mainstream media have competed to denounce the “imperial attitudes” of Russia. In those same days, in Moscow, these events were experienced by the great majority of the Russian population as an act of defense against geopolitical expansionism of the United States and Europe, evoking anti-fascist and national resistance values. With images of this series I represent these ghosts through the symbols present in the area of the Novodevichy Monastery and of its monumental cemetery. Depending on your point of view, they may represent one or the other way of looking at events, in both cases, however, they refer to a common ghost: the war between peoples.
