廟埕 The Temple Square

The open area in front of Taiwanese Temple is called The Temple Square. Generally, The Temple Square plays an essential role in local development, especially when during the early days where it was usually an important meeting place for local groups. Out of this Square has evolved a rich Taiwanese culture. The fact that business exchange takes place and people gather in the Square help define Taiwan’s unique folk custom.
