Being Russian Chinese
A short BW story done for Russian Reporter magazine (Moscow, Russia) in 2009, depicting the contemporary life of Russian cultural tradition in China. Harbin, a city founded by the Russians in 1898, preserved the looks of the fin-de-siecle Russian Empire, and the Orthodox temple of Saint Sophia is a hallmark of the city. Nowadays Harbin is nearly 100% Chinese, but the Russian cultural heritage is still there. Cemeteries, temples, houses and bridges, everything carries that nostalgy about the former great Empire.
