â??Moments of Revelationâ??( 2009-2010) is a series of portraits that captures people in those moments when some kind of truth about themselves or those close to them is suddenly revealed. These moments may last a fraction of a second or an eternity, we as viewers do not know. The magic of the photographic medium creates this mystery for us: it allows us to overcome the notion of time.
Who knows, maybe during those silent meditative moments, when time ceases to exist, we all grasp on some common knowledge hidden in our unconscious. Something that could not be expressed in words, but only felt.
This project dwells somewhere between documentary and staged. As an artist, I am trying to create the conditions that will allow these â??moments of revelationâ?? to occur in front of my camera. To that end, all the photographs are shot in the subjectâ??s intimate environment, and using only lighting available there.
