Literacy in Africa

Agnes Ntenje, 14, is a Grade Five student in her village's primary school in Malawi. She has three younger siblings and is a role model to her younger sister, Angelina, age 10, (l) in Grade Four. She hopes to be president or a teacher. Women in Agnes' village are supporting the education of young girls so that they may have opportunities their mothers didn't have. In the Kasungu region of Malawi, CARE and General Mills are supporting the Join My Village project which will bring education and economic development to 75 villages.
