Along the Way
Along the Wayâ?? is comprised of allegorical landscapes, which are not linked to any specific place, nor do they need to be. Rather, they depict a part of the reality we all create, which is â??our stageâ??, where we live our lives â?? our journey, our play.
I work with the journey we are all on; in a figurative mode of expression, conveying a meaning other than the literal; using symbolic figures, actions or places, my landscapes. The images I create evoke a world where the viewer is free to explore with his or her own emotions and awareness, a drama unbeknownst but to them, their journey â?? Along the Way.â??
Robb Johnson is creating an ongoing body of work, â??Along the Wayâ?? which is comprised of allegorical landscapes, which he says are not linked to any specific place, nor do they need to be. Rather, they depict a part of the reality we all create, which is â??our stageâ??, where we live our lives â?? our journey, our play. Johnson refers to William Shakespeare, who wrote, â??All the world's a stage, and all the men and women merely players; they have their exits and their entrances.â?? We are either the principal player in our drama , or a supporting player, or even a bit player in someone elseâ??s play.
He sets a stage where the actors seem to have just stepped off or have yet to arrive for some unknown drama. â??I work with the journey we are all on; in a figurative mode of expression, conveying a meaning other than the literal; using symbolic figures, actions or places, my landscapes. The images I create evoke a world where the viewer is free to explore with his or her own emotions and awareness, a drama unbeknownst but to them, their journey â?? Along the Way.â??
