Brides of Aruvan in India

India's transgender worshipped God Aruvan; hence, they called themselves the Brides of Aruvan. Aruvan asked for a wife before he was to be sacrificed, and the male God Shiva transformed himself into a woman, to marry him. Hence, followers called themselves Aruvan's brides. Transgenders are a deeply religious lot in India despite society's attempts to paint them as an outcaste given to sex.
