The Original Leningrad Cowboy

After graduating from Flinders University in 1996, Alex Frayne, Nick Matthews and Tom Heuzenroeder formed the Sputnik Film Company, an ensemble led by Alex Frayne.

Alex Frayne is an Adelaide based Australian filmmaker whose films have received attention locally and abroad. He studied Film at the Flinders University of South Australia, and graduated with a B.A in 1996.

His short film THE LONGING (2004, 20 mins) was sold into Australia, the USA, Canada, and Germany.

He then directed, edited, and produced MODERN LOVE in 2007. It screened at over 30 world festivals, secured theatrical releases in Australia and NZ (Nova cinemas), and was released on DVD in April 2008 via the Accent label. Oversees sales were secured into Germany, Switzerland and Austria (DACH) through TV company Bayerischer Rundfunk.

His second feature is entitled TEXAS DOLLY, currently in development.

He is managed my Charlotte Mickie, head of acquisitions at Maximum Films, Toronto.

Alex Frayne speaks fluent French, and holds dual UK/Aus citizenship.
