Born in Genoa in 1979.

During 2006 Massimiliano fell in love with the Scandinavian style of reportage, and moved to Aarhus, Denmark, to study visual story-telling at the Danish School of Journalism. His final work, a feature about illegal migrants in the surroundings of the French port of Calais trying to reach Britain, was awarded the Canon Scholarship for Young Photographers the same year. Since then Massimiliano has been freelancing for major Italian and international magazines such as D della Repubblica, L'Espresso, Courier International, Himal South Asian.

Since January 2009 Massimiliano is a member of POSSE Photographers.
