For over 40 years cluster bombs have been causing unusable farmland, devastated communities and broken infrastructure both during and after the conflict where they have been used as a military weapon. Injury can typically be blindness or loss of limbs, but internal injuries and psychological damage are as common, but less visible. It is estimated that tens of thousands of civilians worldwide have been killed or injured by cluster bombs, but the true figure will never be known.
