Friendly Fire

Angelo Ciaccio, 25 years old, from Naples is fighting against acute leukemia with a series of chemotherapy cycles. His younger brother, Umberto, had to quit his job in order to take care of him. ?The money that Angelo has earned in his missions are now needed for the hospital, without those there would be no hope?. Angelo served in two missions in Kosovo, one in Bosnia and one in Iraq, after which he was found sick. Independent studies by Italian researchers showed the presence of high amounts of heavy metals in his bone marrows and testicles. Such a presence seems to be only linkable to the contamination of exploded depleted uranium weapons.
The Italian Army is only reimbursing 50% of the hotel expenses, as the use of depleted uranium weapons has never been officially declared by the US or other armies. Depleted uranium has been used at least since the 1990?s in all the conflicts where the U.S. have been involved in. Although depleted uranium has been banned by the United Nations on the 7th of December, 2007 with the resolution A/62/391 for toxicity and irreversible environmental hazard, its suppression as an ingredient for weapon and armoring construction seems very doubtful.
