Bathing Horses
During a recent trip to Barbados to do a personal photographic project about holistic treatments and wellness I spent my early mornings on the beach watching the horses and grooms from the nearby Garrison lead the magnificent chestnut, grey, and bay racehorses into the sea. The horses were bathed, swam, and exercised under the careful guidance of their grooms, who ranged in age from 16 to 68. The seawater provides a low-impact exercise, serving as a form of water therapy to strengthen the horses legs.
