Bayuda Desert

After my mother unexpectedly died this past July I found myself in the most vulnerable state in my life. It has been a little while since my last personal project, but she had always loved my work and encouraged me to be fearless. With just my guide, a couple camels, her spirit, and my large backpack I headed out into the Bayuda Sahara desert to photograph the indigenous community from various tribes. It felt like a looking glass into another way of life, another time, maybe an easier way to live. This was the most important and forlorn trip of my life.
