Agbogbloshie is a district in Accra (Ghana). Along Abose-Okai Road you may find one of the largest metal recovery sites in Africa. Here all kinds of electronic and metal devices, coming from all over the world, are destroyed through hammering or fire. The recovered metals are loaded into containers and shipped to China where they are insert again into the production process. Recovery operations have a heavy impact on the environment. The combustion releases very harmful fumes. Here the concentration of lead exceeds by 1000 times the acceptable limits for human health.
