The City Under the City

The "urban villages" are areas of extreme population located in the heart of some Chinese cities. They are made of very concentrated buildings, 4 to 6 floors, creating a labyrinth of small alleys where it’s even arduous for the sunlight to reach apartments. But because of their unsanitary living conditions, soon everything will be destroyed. Despite the fact that these areas are indeed aging, this photo series was made to remember that they have organically created a warm living ecosystem, where everyone knows everyone, establishing a balance between city and countryside activities.
