As I climbed the Khumbu Icefall, I was blown away by the natural beauty of Mount Everest, the pure white of the ice, and the sheer majesty of the landscape around me.

So I was shocked when I arrived at Camp 2 and found it absolutely littered with rubbish. From equipment left behind from previous years’ expeditions to endless bits of plastic waste discarded on the ground and mixed up amongst the rocks, it looked like a rubbish dump. As I walked around the camp my eye was constantly drawn to the rubbish littered among the rocks. Some was recent and some had clearly been there for several years.
