Something Heroic and Distant: San Francisco Bay Area Dance Artists Creating in Quarantine

As the COVID-19 pandemic closed most creative outlets for artists, I looked to my local SF Bay Area's vibrant and diverse dance community for inspiration. I launched the "Something Heroic and Distant" Project as a testament to the resilient spirit of the creative community during these trying times. The project adhered to the Bay Area's strict shelter-in-place orders. During the months of April, May, and June 2020, I conducted nearly 40 "distanced photoshoots" with dancers representing a diverse range of backgrounds, dance styles, and quarantine experiences.
